Umm a request Could you please bring back the Console Window as it is a nice quick way of looking mem usage as well as what players are logged in.

There is no need transferring in the strictest since. All you need to do is make sure that after you run that your server prop file is pointing to the correct map folder and ye be done.

Okay so just to check when i click my server starter it pops up for not even a second then it pops away so i need you guys to tell me if this looks right :)!
This what i have in my path varible- %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin

Dose that look right to you guys? and i do have a 64 bit OS so thats not the problem :)

It looks right but what you might to want to do is drop to a command prompt CMD and change over to the directory and run the bat file in the command window and see what errors are posting.

EDIT: you might want to also trying putting " " around your variable as your have space in your wording so try this "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin" Windows all though it has come a long way does not really like spaces that might help.
EDIT again Okay I love when windows makes me look a liar I guess you do not need the quotes here is my Variable line and I am Running Win7 Ult 64 bit

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\;C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\syswow64;C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Shared

    I hope this helps

I think you are right Open your taskmgr and see if you have java running and if so kill them all and then run them from the command line again

    fatmule

um I opened taskmanager, killed everything... and still says the sam thing, what do you mean run from the command line?

    TheTallest

I misunderstood I thought you were running the batch file from a CMD window. For a test kill your windows firewall if you have it on and try to run it if all else fails cold boot your system that should drop/kill all port bindings

No worries click on your start bubble and click on run if you do not see run press your windows key and press R that will open the run window in the box type in CMD that will drop you to a command prompt Cd to the directory where you have the MC_svr running and at the next prompt run the bat right from the command line it will attempt to run and if fails it will spit out what is going on.

yep gotta love that error. I would say for now until we Bukkit/CraftBukkit get updated that you run Vanilla server after you MAKE A BACKUP !! so in case anyone wants to be dumb and grief your server you have a good copy. I am waiting for Bukkit update as well

Change Directory over to where you have your MineCraft Server installed if it were installed in a folder on your C drive under the folder MineCraftServer you would at the command prompt type CD C:\MineCraftServer and press enter once you are in the folder run the .bat file

Like wise you can also go to the folder in windows press down your shift key and right click anywhere in the white area and you will see open Open Command Window Here that will put you directly in that window

First off, no where in the tutorial does it tell you to open the .jar file, so I am not at fault for your inability to follow instructions. Secondly, please make sure you have Java installed.

    You cannot.

If you still have your command window open type this at the next prompt

    java -version

it should spit out the version of java you are running if it does not then your java be messed up

TheArcher I am wondering if you could pass it on up the line if they could enable the Linux Console window as I find it a wonderful quick way to tell MEM usage as well and who is logged on thank you and you all ROCK !!

Who isent lol oh and do you have any tips on how to make minecraft less laggy i mean i lagg in single player like a hoe with the settings all the way down so i host my servers on my other computer but i like this computer!
    just a random question.
and sorry for posting in the wrong spot!

    TheTallest

I wish There was a way to make it less laggy but since it is programed in Java there not really a way around it. I mean if Notch decides to release it in C# or Ruby or Anyone of the Other 10000 programming languages then it might be less laggy. Java = MEMORY MONSTER !!!

I Know me and my server friends were talking about that one day and noticed how much ram java took up just from playing minecraft! Notch seriously needs to reconsider reprogramming it to some other program and not java

TheArcher posted this a few post back this is the only indication of how close we are to an updated Bukkit

http://bugs.bukkit.org/projects/bukkit/roadmap (before someone flames me TheArcher Posted this first I am just reposting)

  30. This totally sucks... any servers with anything useful are completely barren. They are either being rampaged by griefers, or are closed/white listed to keep only the close members together... If only hmod was supported until bukkit was completed :( This transition is going to lose a LOT of multiplayer people unless things get done fast :(
