    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:

    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4
    • Fixes for CB1000

    • Removed subzone list from /res info, and gave it its own command that supports multiple pages, /res sublist <residence> <page>
    • If the save file errors, it will now be preserved rather then overwritten, it will be renamed res-ERRORED.yml, the plugin will now disable itself upon error as well unless the StopOnSaveFault option in the config is set to false.

    • Removed area list from /res info, use /res area list [residence] or /res area listall [residence] now.

    • Fixed residences not being properly removed from lease / rent system, upon deletion.
    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • Added "/res area replace" command, allows you to resize / move a physical area. If the new area is bigger, it will only charge you for the difference in size.
    • Added 'waterflow' and 'lavaflow' flags which override the flow flag if set.
    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.
    v2.1.1
    • Fix case sensitivity bug in rent system.
    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.
    • Added the 'place' and 'destroy' flags, which if used overrule the 'build' flag. These allow you to give only block placement permissions in a certain area, or only block destroy permissions.
    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

Need a little help. My son is a member of the group "Member" and I am the admin. I have all permissions.
I can use a feather to select the residence blocks, it works great, get the messages about selecting primary and secondary coordinates for the residence. I want him to be able to create his own, though, and when he tries he gets nothing, no errors in console, and he just gets no messages.

Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong? I thought I had given him permission.

Hmm this may be just what my server needs I have a question but i want to know if the plugin can do this.

say i make a house and make a subzone in that house then lease it to another player dose the money from the lease come to me or the server?

Thats if i can like sub rent out a space not even 100% sure if that is possible :/

I am looking for a nice money sink for my server so many people are getting loaded with cash ;/

I love this plugin! It's the first protection plugin I used and have not ever moved from it!

Just an idea/request here... and not sure if it fits within Residences parameters... but here it goes:

I'd like to see protection extended to tracks leaving a Residence. Kinda like daisy-chaining protection from track to track. The protection would only protect the track and the block the track is on... and maybe any carts that are on the track too.
This would allow people to connect their town/homes to one another with tracks... and not worry about those pesky griefers who want to crash your cart off a bridge!

Anyways, thanks for a great plugin!

When you create a subzone within a residence, you can put it up for rent.
The money goes to the owner of the subzone, not the server.
If you want the money to go to the server, make the subzone 'Server Land'. This will make the money go to the server instead of a player.

@bekvon : please correct me if i'm wrong. I will carry on updating wiki when i've finished college. Sorry I havent been around lately. I'm finishing in no more then 3 weeks.

Is it at all possible for this to utilize the worldedit gui mod? Its very helpful when making selections.

Edit: It works if you have the client mod installed and have both use the same tool for selection.

No one has a solution to my problem? =/

    I'm using Residence v2.2
    Latest iConomy v5.01

My residence config file is this http://pastebin.com/abU2M0ts

When I start the server this is what happens http://pastebin.com/nxu9dDSG

I'm running the server on Ubuntu 10.10

Everything works perfect except for the Residence plugin on my server which I require. It runs fine and says it's linked to iConomy but when ever I go to create a Residence it will not take money from my iConomy for some reason??

I do have Permissions installed if that's of any use. PLEASE can someone help me with this?

Ok awesome, thanks for letting me know :)

There should be no hard subzone limit.

If you set the subzone to be owned by Server Land, it will go to the server (more specifically to the "Server Land" economy account) when you rent it out.

I would like to do something like that, just havn't gotten around to looking at how it would work :) In the meantime, you can do exactly what you said and use the same tool.

Hmm, your config looks fine as does your permission nodes. Can you have him type /res limits and see if it indeed says hes in the "members" group and has creation permission?
Hmm, might be able to come up with something like that, but there is problems with data inconstancy when modifying the file live, changes made since the last save wont persist if its done that way.

Yea, can probbably do somthing like that, I'll add it to the todo :)

If your a Residence admin, you don't get charged. Are you testing this from a non-admin account? This will be changed in the next version so that all admin commands must be run with /resadmin, instead of /res to make testing things on your server easier and allowing the admin to play the game normally as well as do admin things. :)

Love the plug, very very useful.
I am pretty sure this is from Residence.
Everytime a non-admin places a block, uses an item (cheast, door, furnace etc) an error pops up in the chat window that "You do not have permission to do this" Everything still works like it needs to and blocks can still be placed and destroyed.
The message comes up in both an residence area and an area that is not marked as a residence.

    please help meh

  15. Offline

    Daniel Few

Chests, Furnaces and Dispensers are all covered by the 'container' flag.
Please use '/res pset [residence] [name] container true' to allow them to have access.
To turn off residence chest protection, please goto the config file and change all container flags to true.
This will turn off any chest protection for residence so you only need to use LWC.

I don't even have a default group, and I searched the config file for every instance of "default" to see if it was one I forgot to replace. There were a LOT of that word, but I couldn't find where I might have made that mistake (could still be that.) The plugin seems to still think he should be in the default group named in the plugin before I told it the default group was Guest.

Edit: Had another user in the Member group test it. She gets same limits.

Hmm, one more thing. What version of permissions are you using? I haven't tried Residence with the new Permissions 3 yet (been using 2.X versions). I ran your config through a YML parser and everything checked out OK, so don't think theres any issues with that.

What CB version? Also, it looks like you have a BlastControl plugin installed that might be causing the issue.

    I am having two issues.
    1. When my users trying to do the /res create command, they get a message that "the selected area is bigger than your allowed limits" (or something in that fashion, I can not remember the exact phrasing).
    2. This has forced me to make residences for my users and then give them the admin flag. However, when they try to do /res set/pset/gset they get an error saying that they do not have permissions (I believe that Permissions 3.1.4 is causing this error). I have given the members the 'residence.create' permission node.

I am using CB 818 with Residence 2.2

Using craftbukkit 860, but I am told the API didn't change, so 818 plugins should work with it.
    Using permissions 3.1.5b

There used to be a problem with using globaluser and globalgroups, but that has been fixed.

It works the same way that Essentials GM works, with separate user and group files. Seems to be working fine, as all of his other permissions works or don't depending on what is allowed him.

Edit: Tried it with another user in Member group. She was added to the res with flags true on build, use, destroy. It gives her same response, but updates the res.yml with the correct permissions:

    Hello!
Could you please help me with this:
I want to setup this amazing plugin so that only admin/ops can create residences.
I want normal players to be able to sell/buy residences that are made by Ops/admin and also set flags for residences they own.
So... How should I edit Permissions and Config for it to turn out that way

EDIT: Btw, what is the best way of creating protected public areas in a city like streets and walls and such? is it with creating subzones and connecting them?

    Thank you in advance :)

Not suggesting you remove the plugin you need, but you might want to post that same error message from your log over on the BlastControl thread because it looks like it caused a NullPointerException. It looks like this plugin just couldn't be passed a variable after that exception. If Blast Control throughs an NPE, no one can fix it but the BC author.

    okay so, my server...

It had lease enabled, iConomy, etc.

Then it just stops working all of a sudden, using cb 860 and ur 2.2 version.

    Well, very disappointed in this...

Had over 150 residences, and now they are all gone... just because it SUDDENLY stops working after one restart when I changed absolutely nothing with residence or any other plugin.
