This plugin will spawn meteorites falling to the earth. On collission with the ground they will explode and leave a random ore covered by obsidian.
The default spawning rate is a chance of about 8% per minute (one player online).
    Version: v0.4
    Supported builds: 740, 766, 798

    Features:
    • Randomly spawns a meteorite
    • Allows shooting on targets
    • Generates a configurable ore on impact
    Download:

    0.4 [JAR] 0.3.1 [JAR][SRC] 0.2 [JAR] [SRC] 0.1 [JAR]

    Configuration:

    Edit the plugins/NeoMeteorites/config.yml
likeEveryXMinutesPerChunk: Sets the chance of a meteroite getting spawned.
The chance is set at 1 / (likeEveryXMinutesPerChunk / chunksThatAreLoaded).
If set to default (6000) and there is one player online, there is a spawning chance of ~8%. At 12000, it is ~4%. When more players are online (means more loaded chunks, the spawning rate will increase).
blocks: The block ids a meteorite can consist of.
shell: The block id of the material which covers the blocks obove.
fancyExplosionSize: The size of the explosions that are caused when the meteorite is in the air.
explosionSize: The size of the impact explosion. Set it to 0.0 to disable it.
numberOfExplosions: A meteorite can explode several times on the ground (it makes more damage).

    Permissions:
    Code:
                - 'NeoMeteorites.CallMeteorite'

    Commands:

    /meteorite - Will spawn a meteorite somewhere
/meteorite here - A meteorite will hit the block you are looking at
    /meteorite playername - Self-explanatory

    Issues:
    • You can't see meteorites, when they are too far away (explosion particles won't be displayed - When making the screenshot I was using a client mod, which disabled that). You can still hear the explosions.
    • Sometimes meorites will only fire if you come close.
    • One time for a server start you have to left click in the air to get meteorites working (I don't know why, also comfirm this please)
    Changelog:

    Version 0.4
    • Fixed several issues
    Show Spoiler

    Version 0.3

    Version 0.2
    • Added options: blocks, shell, fancyExplosionSize, explosionSize, numberOfExplosions
    • Addes the possibility to force a meteorite spawning (supports Permissions)

At first I will increase the stability and re-re-check the whole spawning thing.

If that's done, I will add Towny support.

@Flenix: It's just one modified class file, so it's no problem.

And you can add support for the multiverse, I would like to set the meteorites for only one of the worlds?

This will be possible, of course.

Updated to 0.4. Meteorites will work, but please read the issue part!

The other things are on the todo list. Maybe I'll wait for 1.6, since I'm using craftbukkit.
It is possible to do it without craftbukkit, maybe it would be more stable - I'll look into that.

  6. My users and myself love this. Had some real play time to test this now. It's great.
I got users constantly searching the surface (and ocean floors) for ore.

I have the settings set perfectly too, it'll only cause real bad damage to dirt, roof seem to be able to take a beating without too much devastation.

Using reward blocks: 11,14,21,41,56,57. Yes, 11. haha. They all can't be winners.

so what would i set it to if i don't want this to happen randomly, and only by command 999999?

    Cant wait for multiworld support.

  9. If this has been stated elsewhere I apologize but I think I've narrowed down this log to this plugin.
The means a comet landed correct?

This is just a debug message I forgot to delete. It means that a meteorite is moving.

  11. Cool, don't remove it, its nice to know.

So with fireballs being visible now, does this mean we will see meteorites?

This plugin is amazing! my players love it, thanks for making it!
btw is this going to be updated for RB#818?

    furekusu

    Yes, it will be updated.
I think the fireballs will be visible then.

Also, I have an idea how to bypass the craftbukkit moving thingy.

    Hey,

    This plugin sounds awesome!

I downloaded it but i can't get it to work.
It generates the map with the config file. I use the default config.

But when I start the server and try /meteorite here or 1 of the other commands it gives a Java.lang.NullpointerException error. And crashes my server =/

I'm sure I missed something while reading this thread. So could somebody please tell me what I did wrong? :p
It would be greatly appreciated :D

    Thanks in advance!

Are you using a build from 740 to 798?

If yes, please give me the whole error message.

Well then I know what I did wrong. :p Thanks.

I can't wait untill it is compatible(will it ever be?).

I seriously love the idea of thing plugin. I actually was building ''meteor impacts" and hid stuff in there. Then I saw this plugin. I never thought something like this would excist. xD

    Really awesome idea. :p

Could you give us an indication of how many days it will take untill it's ready for 818? I can't wait to see this plugin. It sounds really cool.

How do I add permissions? (at least I think that's the problem)
I'm getting "unknown console command type /help for help" or something:confused:
    EDIT*
thank you for such a quick response I got it working after reinstalling:)

This is not a permissions problem, that means the plugin is not running or you misspelled the command.
If you're using the console, you don't write / at the beginning of a command.
