    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Hmmm, there is no "latest"... I don't know if it is important, but with 3.1 there were several fixes about prefixes and suffixes. Now some hours ago the "latest" was 3.0.7. Also is the "latest" by the Yeti (for me Yeti's thread) 2.7.4...

But appart from this, the configuration looks fine. You could check if Permissions got the prefix via the Permissions commands.

I have a question do you guys use this with the standard minecraft chat. If so how do you get past minecraft cutting off after so many characters? I saw some client side mod for improved chat but it is broke.

Hey, is this plugin able to make it so that a prefix before chat makes it go to a directed channel?

I am running a small RP server, and want it so that if I say

    Hi - Local
    .Hi - Global

Anyone know how this can be achieved?

Hey guys plugin works just fine but I want to get some help with my current setup,

I want all my guests to be able to talk in my Nomad channel, I also want them to see the global chat but not be able to talk in that channel.

After a guest is approved, I would like them to loose access to nomad and automatically focus on global where they can now chat just fine.

Nomad rank (this rank is called "Everyone" in permissions):
    Join and talk in Nomad
Join but not talk in Global

    Regulars Rank:
    Has no access to Nomad
Has talk and join access to Global

  8. The build he released before he left is NOT WORKING with Permissions 3.1 unless I'm doing something wrong - which I incredibly doubt.

Hey I'm having some problems, can anyone help me out? I'm a bit confused on what the diference between joining a channel and setting the focus on a channel is. I have 2 channels up, global and one with a password. If, for exmple, I type in /ch PasswordChannel it will say Set Focus on PasswordChannel. Then everything I type will have the "PasswordChannel" prefix. However if I type /ch join PasswordChannel it wants me to put the password in.

When you are joined in a channel you get the messages other send on this channel. With /ch list you can see in which channels you are. Those are marked with a asterisk.

    hello
i have towny installed and its giving the players the towny prefixes of lord and mayor instead of the ones set in permissions. i am running 2.7.4 permissions, is this only available in 3?

No, it shouldn't be acting like that.
We need to see your Permissions file and your Herochat config file.

That hasn't helped my issue though. I'm trying to make it so that it'll prompt me for a password when I join X channel, but i can just type /ch X and it lets me in without a password by "setting focus"

    heres my config file:

    http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=gRWu2PP1

it also has the asteriks on both channels :|

You are already in the channel, and this allows you to change the focus to it. Try to leave it (don't know the command at the moment) and then to change the focus. It shouldn't allow you to do this.

I don't know if this problem is related to HeroChat, i just try finding an answer.

Since i use Permissions 3.X the problem which is explained in the attached graphic occures.

I used Essentials GroupManager before and everything worked fine. I just needed to delete the "{prefix}" in the default-chat-options of HeroChat because with this "{prefix}" the GroupManager-Groups were displayed 2 times in the chat.

I tried deleting "{prefix}" again but i doesnt work :(

Has anyone been able to get the prefixes to work with Permissions 3.x? I haven't so if you could tell me how(if it's possible) that would be great.

Simply replace the plugins? As long as the permissions are well configured, it should work (e.g. on my server). Even the per user prefixes.

Is there any possibility to do some sort of recent commands scrolling (like in console) or autofill (like in terminal in linux) just pressing some key (arrow up or tab e.g.)? That would be VERY convenient, i suffer from lack of it when it is needed to type in many same-looking commands. Also minecraft has no feature to point the cursor left or right in order to correct mistypes in the long command or something else. Would be nice to fix it too.

  24. There's a client-side mod called Better Chat (I think) that does most, if not all, of what you are asking. It's on the Minecraft forums.

Oh, and by the way, I figured out that the error I posted above was due to some sort of mistake in my configuration file. Silly noob me.

Hey, would you mind showing me your config files? Currently using McMyAdmin and had to update with the new permissions... All of the permissions for everyone is fine, but herochat can't get the prefixes.... just an annoying bug really. I need to see the group names!!!!!! arggghhh

I would really appreciate someone taking the time to help me out configuring Herochat with Permissions so that i will get colored prefixes and coloured names for each group. I'm not too fond of the entire channel bullshit so if someone could help me make it as simple as possible without any channels, but with working perrmission prefixes that would be awesome!
I've tried everything in the config files and reading the wiki but it just makes my brain hurt and nothing i do will work. Help, please!

What's weird is that this used to work. Now it won't.

Hagon94 & PatricB -- prefixes and suffixes are apparently not working because permissions is currently not supporting them. There might be a way to work around, so, DThielke will be back on June 17th and he might have a way to fix this. Until either he fixes it, or permissions starts supporting prefixes and suffixes, they won't work. So we just have to wait for updates.

Or you can get Permissions 2.7. There was no real reason to update, except that you all just want the newest stuff without thinking through. Sorta like your users who update to 1.x of Minecraft to from the older one right away.
