    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

I figure if my first project "back in the plugin-writing game" is going to be creating an add-on plugin for HeroChat, I should probably do something for HeroChat as well:D

Can someone once show me an example config file? I don't know how to allow my admins to join the staff and alert channel. We are already all admins through permissions and we are ops. Please Help

Oh i just need to know how to do it.

    DThielke

The default config shows how to do this. You just need to change the group names in the Staff and Alert channels to match your groups.

Is it possible to move players into and out of channel? Like as an Admin, I want to sometimes talk to people 1 on 1 and would liek to be able to make people join a certain channel and make it active for them.

This isn't possible. Why wouldn't you just use /tell for this?

  12. Offline

    vein_mx

I honestly have not used /tell, but it seems like /tell is similar to a private message function like /msg as in I can only talk to one player at one time..

    That's traditionally what 1 on 1 means :p.

    What the heck?
    Code:
14:35:34 [INFO] [HeroChat] You must be a player to create channels
    Why :(

It's an old an useless restriction, but one that won't be changed until 5.0.0.

Ok, after disabling HeroChat, my server ran 3x faster @ 3GB of RAM. It delayed server launch for 2 minutes and server shutdown for 60 seconds.

Hello, thank you for this nice plugin but i have one question, i want to make the local chat to default channel.
I have change the line : default-channel: Local

But it's don't work, when i talk in the chat, i'm in the channel general...

    Sorry for my bad english.

Did you make the change while the server was live? If so, did you do a /ch reload afterwards? If not, your config was probably reset after doing a normal reload.

I have make the change while the server was off, i always do that when the server is off.
I have look again to the config and i don't see the problem...

Maybe i need to change this things too ? It's for the local chat
    options:
    hidden: false
    shortcut-allowed: true
    auto-join: true
    local: true
    cross-world-chat: true
    join-messages: false
    forced: true

    Thank you for the help

That looks fine. You may be misinterpreting how the default channel works in combination with user saving. Upon joining the server for the first time, a user will focus the default channel, so that when he/she speaks (assuming they don't change channels first) his/her message will go to the default channel. However, once a user has joined/left/focused various channels, these individual settings are saved upon logout. When they log back in, HeroChat restores their previous settings as if the user had never left.

If you previously had the Global channel focused and then made the change to the default channel, this change will not affect you. It will only affect new users. You can test this by logging out and deleting the file associated with your account in the plugins/HeroChat/users folder.

If this isn't your problem, then post your entire config. What I've seen so far looks fine.

    Well, that's perfect !
It was because i have run the plugin and login before i change the config file.

I have delete the file associated with my account in the users folder and now it's work !
Really thank you to have take the time to answer and to help me :)

    I come back again, sorry..

But when you talk about the /ch reload, i have a little problem with the commands, i can't use the commands, it's say nothing, and in the console too. I'm OP and i have all permissions ( '*' ) So it's not the problem.
I really want to have the command for change the active channel for myself and other players, but it's don't work and nothing appear if it's a error or not, maybe a little bug about the commands ?

Sorry, really hard to explain again, i hope you will understand ! And sorry to ask you that, i know you have a lot of work !

HeroChat doesn't show chat in the console. Is there a configuration option for that?

Is there a way to make people be in all channels that they can be in? Players on my server are in factions, and I find that the faction channels are often unused because players often send a message to the channel and find that nobody in their group has actually heard it.

If you have "separate-chat-log: false" in your config, chat will be logged in the console.

Are there any errors in your console/server log? Where are you looking for these files?

    No.

    Not for a while.

Commands work fine in the absence of user/config error and conflicting plugins. CommandHelper is a known conflict that will cause commands not to work (CommandHelper will eat any /ch command before HeroChat gets a chance to process it). You can fix this by opening CommandHelper's jar and changing the command name in its plugin.yml.

    MuttsNuts

Yeah it was telling me each time I type a command "unexpected newline".
I have got CommandHelper and done as you instructed and now its working fine. Thanks for that :)
I have iChat also that is showing a conflict in the console but I'm pretty much guessing I don't even need that plugin any longer.

Thanks again for your rapid help. :D

Any chance on making it so if your a 'guest' or certain rank, you are put in a specific channel ONLY. Then if you get a promotion, it automatically changes your channel rights.
