Have you ever wanted to have portal gun in minecraft? Have you ever wanted to make your own portal test chambers and make your friends solve it? Now you can do this!

PortalStick is plugin that tries to emulate Portal Gun as close as possible in Minecraft without client mods.

    Demonstration video of the plugin:

Shorter demonstration video created by user of the plugin (sorry, can't remember name right now.):

I seem to have a bug where once I have changed the portalable surface to any sort of wool, when i delete my portals, they leave the wool in place. I want to run a server with chambers and nothing required clientside, and I am using white wool as the surface.

tl;dr Your "check and replace portal wool with original surface" only checks the item id, it would be nice if you could make it check for different coloured wool. (So I can place and remove portals on white wool for instance) (Im using compact portals)

EDIT: Also im having a problem with "flinging" and portal orentation. Observe the blue portal, it doesn't orientate correctly

When I manage to jump into the blue portal (tiny) I fling out of the orange portal in the wrong direction, toward the blue portal! And sometimes it glitches and i get stuck for awhile until i move around and then I pop out. Whats going on here?

Yup, I have changed the portal materail from stick to a different item (which is less common)
So making a fully customizable inventory will be awsome.

You are using compact portals. They are not working properly in v2.0. Fix expected in next version.

Whenever you update your plugin, please make sure to also update the thread title and any other location that references the version number in your original post.

Oops, forgot to do that. Thanks for reminder.

In 2.1.0, minecarts fail to maintain momentum, and therefore come to an immediate halt as soon as they go through a portal.

Ok thus far I have noticed that the portal range has reduced significantly and I am finding it very hard to place a portal beyond 25 blocks - ish (not 100% on the exact amount of blocks)
other than that - you still get snapped to the front no matter what way you were facing when you entered the portal.

Runs smooth but yeah has some real restrictions on how far you can place the portal now

I've noticed the range difference too, and it's kind of annoying. Not to mention the config files keep resetting every single time I edit them, which is really annoying. Honestly I preferred the old config file where you could just choose which worlds to enable it on and everything was kept simplistic. I'm still not getting this whole region thing even after reading the wiki...

Will you make the configurable unique inventory?

Does more ppl have this problem if i change something in yml and you reboot the server. the yml gets to default again.

Oh noes... that was part of one of my puzzles :(
Well, need to fix that...but let's test if it's more stable... last version would run for sometimes and then nobody could place portal, lots of lag and also using MagicCarpet inside my PortalStick area would leave lots of block behind and break all my puzzles...

It's optional, so you can turn it off. I will check out range issue.

I'm sorry but i can't replicate this behavious. Any more info?

I just witnessed this myself - i'll look into it.

Yes, we didn't have time for this release. That is more of a feature, not a bug fix.

If you want to edit the config with the server running, edit it then type /portal reload . And easier way is just to stop the server, edit the config file, then start it again. Either that or use the /portal flag <region> <property> <value> command to change properties of regions in game.

You can turn it off. Check region.yml

If you edit them whilst the server is running and don't type /portal reload once you are done, the plugin will save its current settings when the server restarts. Trust me, it is better that way. Otherwise things get REALLY confusing.

The region thing is dead simple. If you know what WorldGuard regions are, this is the exact same principle. If you aren't fussed with making any portal regions, just edit the 'global' region that is auto created in regions.yml.

Yeah, I eventually figured it out, I just need to disable it on all the other worlds and I'm set. My problem before was that even after I typed /portal reload it reverted back to the original files...but it seems to work now. I do like the inclusion of all the new features though, especially the boots.

I don't really like the compact portals, but those who argued for them have a good point... I wonder if it would be possible for portal size to be context-sensitive? Large portal if it fits, otherwise compact portal.

Yeah for some reason in v2.0.0 the reload feature wasn't working.

That would be very hard to detect, and would get confusing for users

For me unique-inventory still doesn't have any effect ? Is this normal ? What's supposed to be the behavior exactly ?

The unique inventory is for portal regions. Changing the setting in the 'global' region will have no effect.

Erm are you sure? It works fine for me.

Well, I'm talking about defined region. Either with "true" or "false" when anyone enter the region their inventory gets replaced by a single stick and when they leave it gets restored. According to the description I was expecting that with "false" value it would not touch the inventory.
P.S.: It seems like you didn't update the version in the jar, or the download link in the thread is still 2.0 ?
That's from using the jar I've redownloaded from the thread link few seconds ago.

I'll check out what you are saying about unique inventories.

Probably didn't upload the plugin.yml version. I'll make a note for the future.

I just finished aerial faith plates. They will be in the next version.

A vertical one is simply any faith block - it is triggered when a player touches any side of it.
A horizontal one is two faith blocks with a stone plate on one them. It triggers when a player walks on the plate block and fires in the direction of the non-plate block.

The faith block (default diamond block) and horizontal/vertical velocities are both configurable. In the config file the velocity will be configured as 'n1-n2' where n1 is horizontal and n2 is vertical. There is a max of 8 on the velocities (specified by minecraft, not me).

Here is little sneak peak video by my friend:

Included aerial faith plates (diamond blocks) and blue gel blocks (lapis lazuli blocks)

Jump height and length is of course configurable (we had it very high and had a lot of fun jumping across the map :))

    Hi. I'm trying to set a region's 'portallable-blocks' to iron blocks (value 42). The regions file looks like this: "portallable-blocks: &id002 - 1 - 42"

I've done that and saved the file, then did the "/portal reload" command on the server, but the regions file reverts back to "portallable-blocks: &id002 - 1". Shouldn't the reload command keep the regions file to what I typed?
