To just say it quick i need developers that are experienced java developers and minecraft players, to develop a server software bukkit alike but standalone and not a mod. Read FAQ and look at github before writing that other projects already exists etc.

    What experince level is required?
    • Some experience in networkprogramming.
    • Understanding how binary works and how computers use/save them.
    • Knowlage in Minecraft as a game how the mechanics work, after all we do not copy code we rewrite it.
    • ABILITY TO READ CODE, i srsly dont want to spend 2 hours explain how the allready exising code works.
    • Ability to communicate with mic. (Skype)
    • Intermediate java knowlage, Noone knows everything but its like reading a text you dont want to look up every word in a lexicon.
This project is allready in progress look at http://github.com/MarineAPI/MarineStandalone!

    FAQ:
    • You never heard of sponge, why is this project better or what differs?:I have ofcourse i heard of sponge, the diffrence with this and that project are that they use an depedency forge and are focused on both serverside and clientside. This however is not even a mod and does not require for stuff like mcp to be available. This can be updated in a day when minecraft gets released, but sponge will have to wait for forge that have to wait on mcp...
    • Will this not take ages?: That is not necessary, in 20 days im done the hard parts and now its only simple stuff like making all the fetures work. If i get some help a fully working API and Implementation could be available after New years eve.
    • If you cant make it your self why even bother: I can that was the plan from the beginning but because its more fun to make it community driven and work in a team i want this. And it does speed up the progress alot..
    • Im not a mega pro 9000 in java can i help? Well begin by trying to read the code and understand what it does, if you manage to get a grip of it, contact me :), if you are not watch some tutorials. Btw programming is about making solutions to unencountered problems so if you are good at those things in math you may be a good programmer just need some java tut.
    • If sponge is out of the leauge what about Glowstone and them alike? Well glowstone is a really good option but when i tried to contact them i understood glowstone was not a dedicated project like sponge or bukkit was. And they often use Bukkit Api that isnt updated and therefore not best for 1.8.
    • But spigot got their 1.8 version right: Yes and its great, but still is dependent on decompiling minecraft code and use it. And this implementation will be designed to have the abilite to handle alot player and use all possble potential of minecraft. That means stuff like protocollib will be part of the api etc.
If you have some more questions type them.

<Waiting for all the comments that this will fail like all the 50 other api implementations>

Edit: Sorry for the sloppy english, i did just write as quick as posseble to be able to get back to coding.

    Moved to Bukkit Alternatives.
Besides that: good luck competing with the big boys.

Fozie Spigot moved their server to Romania so there isn't any need for more server APIs.

Yes, but i dont want to use spigot in my server and this is a great oppertunity to do something knew to me, i started to get bored of opengl. And they use mojang code.

Interestingly enough, Romania didn't sign the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). ;)

ColonelHedgehog Yea I looked that up after seeing Wolfe's post and I checked where spigot was hosting their server.

All true, but still this server is not using any mojang code what so ever

Oh it is, but instead of adding it themselves, when you build the file, they're having you do it.

  11. Are any licenses violated with that process?

Why do you think they moved their servers to romaina :/
In one way (not that it's matter) are you Ileagal by using spigot and that is ofc extremely sad.

  13. To avoid a DMCA for which you need an email but no proof at court. Obviously some people want to kill Bukkit and would love to kill Spigot, so it's a reasonabe measure. Note that the Minecraft community is spread all across the globe, not just DMCA-countries :).

There is no proof for it being illegal yet. Don't fall for that.

Yes but it isn't fun if someone that want to kill bukkit sends a DCMA request to a server host that shuts down your server. Unfortunately we're bukkit licensed using a license that made all this drama possible and even if the case haven't been to court wouldn't I be so sure it would survive that process.
But srsly I don't think this is problem because who goes and sends DMCA request to servers the only thing they would earn is cause and hate.
