Was never really active on the forums much, more of a silent "user" of craftbukkit/bukkit.

Just wanted to stoop in to say thanks for all the work that has been done over the years. Sad to see such a great community and project dissolve before you.

I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

It's all for the better guys, don't worry. It was a raw deal for everyone involved. Now that Mojang's investment has effectively caused the community project to die, they can wipe all the cruft away and Dinnerbone can rewrite "his baby" instead of updating it. Mojang caused this.. they can fix it. GG Mojang.

TY devs for all your contributions overtime!

Farewell and thank you for your help. Sad to see a community which I've been on (lurking mostly) for ages is going to die soon.

  9. It's been a nice run with you guys and developing plugins. Thanks for everything <3

  15. Despite the occasional disputes, Bukkit was a place that brought together many people and forged an unbelievable community around a simple game.

While I think this development could slowly be seen coming for a while, I am still sad to see it actually happen.

I would like to deeply thank everybody who contributed to that experience, to everybody who helped to keep the project going and allowed it to overcome the countless obstacles that were thrown in its way. Many did not acknowledge the incredible dedication and time that all of you put into Bukkit, but at the same time the people who did (almost) always helped to keep this place friendly and positive.

I personally started to grow away from Minecraft completely, but I will always remember this place and community that I am proud to be a part of.

Farewell and best of luck for the future!

I would like to thank the Bukkit community for stepping in and filling the void that Mojang refused to fill.
This great team of people took a game that 'out of the box' would lose it's appeal in a month, into something that could be enjoyed for years.

It's unfortunate that the litigious culture has put a stop to something this good.

Thanks for all the hard work you all have done over the years.

I've mostly moved away from Minecraft now, but after hearing about this, I wanted to stop by and just say: thank you. Thanks for making such an awesome game even awesomer, and thanks for giving me the motivation to learn how to program. When Bukkit was about 4-5 months old, I wrote my first program: a simple, stupid plugin that said hi when I logged in. I now know 3 programming languages fluently and code on a near-daily basis.

Thank you for your hard work, and thanks for touching my life. It's unfortunate it had to end this way, but I'm excited to see what the future will bring for the Minecraft community. Perhaps I'll come back one day. Best of luck to all the developers in the future!

Years... Its been a good few years. Glad I got to spend it with out. And to think I wouldn't be a PC gamer not to mention ever played Minecraft if it wasn't for the Bukkit team.

Thank you so much for all your time and effort put forth into the project.

Why are you all suddenly resigning from the project?? What is wrong with everyone??

Why are you all suddenly resigning? What is wrong here?? Please don't give up! We all need you to continue or thousands of servers across the world will DIE. Please explain!

    Wow..
I remember when in 2011 when I first used Bukkit on a port forwarded server, Bukkit, in a way, has affected my life majorly. I've met people over servers, who, well, Idk where I would be without them today, those servers wouldn't of been possible without Bukkit.

Thank you Bukkit and all the staff for taking a game that would get old fast, and extending it's lifetime for years on end, I wish the Bukkit staff and community good luck to wherever life takes you.

    Goodbye. [cake]

You should read their posts to learn more about what's happened :p Basically, Mojang's done a few things that hindered progress before, they didn't help, they created the EULA mess that had the Bukkit Staff and many server owners wonder if Mojang was doing good things, they announced that they owned Bukkit for a long time, and now Bukkit has been DMCA'd. Check /r/admincraft in reddit to know more. It's been discussed there a ton.

All will be missed, so will their dedication and hard work. Bukkit was an adventure, an adventure that wouldn't be possible without the handful of people that made it. I'm happy to have joined in on this as a plugin dev and a server owner.

I feel the death of Bukkit is a lot closer than the original farewell by EvilSeph . The community made Bukkit what it is, but without the community, there is no Bukkit.

But that doesn't explain how Mojang's EULA affects Bukkit if they have always had a special relationship with the Devs. I really don't see why they all need to quiet? Please clarify.

This has nothing to do with Minecraft's EULA. The situation was caused by a DMCA takedown notice from Wolvereness, who claims that his code was wrongly used because Craftbukkit's LGPL license is invalidated by the fact that it's shipped alongside non-free code (the vanilla server). This is a legitimate claim, though whether it is morally just is a different issue.

Edit: Also, please don't repost. It's annoying and no one appreciates it, ever. And to answer your previous question, these staff members have resigned (I speculate) because they're jumping from a sinking ship. Bukkit has little chance of recovery at this point. Hopefully new projects will arise from its ashes, but only time will tell.

Did everyone actually want to leave? It looks more like they're being pushed into leaving, or they're just doing it out of spite.

Either way, how can someone start contributing to the bukkit project? I'm sure there are others who would be happy to help it continue. I'm an experienced programmer, I'm happy to help fill the void.
