I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)
When you post error messages, it's important to paste the whole stack trace!

I appreciate that, but no, since it works fine on my ubuntu ...
Will add a message at startup that shows connection details.
There was someone recently woth the same error. You are using a remote MySQL server, right? I tried some things to solve that, the v0.15 update was mainly to fix that, but failed at doing so. Now, I changed the connection validation check once more, so there is a chance (but not more) that it's fixed with v0.16.
Alternatively you could setup a local MySQL server.

    Nevermind, freesql.org is awesome!
Also, if you, blow up TNT in a building, the roof gets blown up, and sand or gravel falls through, it doesn't get rolled back!

Yeah I know I'm really really stupid. I used freesql.org...

Oh my god... I didn't see that you replied to something like this earlier. I'm so sorry for all the spam :(

    Great :D
Not atm, but I'm trying to figure out a way to do that, until bukkitfinally implements the hooks.
Some special chars (spaces, backslashes, etc) can cause problems, I advise to use a 16 char long alphanumeric one.
But since the connection data worked with previous versions, it's unlikely.

    Question:
Why wouldn't I just change it to INT in the config? I mean, how much lag does it really cause (or does it just use more space because thats not a problem)
Oh and this plugin is super duper awesome griefers will be banned because of you ;)

  12. Offline

    DiddiZ

Well , INT is two times larger than SMALLINT, and when you dont't need it, it's really wasted space in your db.

    @DiddiZ

I'm using this in conjunction for the chest logging functionality. It successfully logs the chest changes to the database, but fails to shop them in /lb area and thus I'm not able to roll back any changes made to the chest. Could you look into this? I've yet to find a decent chest logging plugin, so this is my best bet for the time being.

    These do crash the server.

Since its a queue overload I'm afraid I lost a lot of entries... might downgrade to 0.14 if this happens again.

I'm at CB754 with LogBlock0.15, and I'm not having any problems. When I was at CB740, I think I was still using LB0.14.

The error looks like a locking issue with MySQL, which might be a db thing and not an LB thing. I've exercised LB in the last couple days, and it has run really well (rolled back almost 20,000 blocks the other night -- it always amazes me how fast it works).

If you look at the CB builds, 740>>754 has some nice fixes/features. You might want to consider upping CB, restarting your server, and see if your problems go away.

Chest logging isn't fully implemented yet, when it's possible to log, I'll add rollback.
Hm, something hold a writelock on the database, so LB wasn't able to write the queue into db.
Restarting the MySQL server uasually solves that, wíthout loosing the queue.
I'm still trying to figure out what causes the write lock.

Chest logging isn't fully implemented yet, when it's possible to log, I'll add rollback.

Hm, something hold a writelock on the database, so LB wasn't able to write the queue into db.
Restarting the MySQL server uasually solves that, wíthout loosing the queue.

Noted. Thanks for the quick response! :)

It happened again, so I downgraded to 1.4, no problems now.
Its way to late for me to try anything else like another CB build, but I'll look into it tomorrow

I'm getting the following. Any time it happens, log block stops recording block history, although it can pull up old history without issue.

    05:02:18 [SEVERE] [LogBlock] SQL exception
    com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.CommunicationsException: Communications link failure

    What does this mean?

With 0.14+ is it okay for me to set my keepLogDays to 360? Is there any problem with that?

Whoops! Just upgraded to 0.15 and I now see that logs are set to keep forever (-1). Great!

No, alredy heard of that, but no idea what could cause that. It's mainly a MySQL error, that causes signtexts and/or chest acesses to be not logged.
There are more blocks in queue than the consumer can process. That can occur due to forest fire. But when the message keeps spamming, you should change some consumer setting, e.g. lower the delay.
Will come with the new commands system. I'm going to start test phase today.

This happened when I reloaded all my plugins using /reload. Then the server kicked everyone out with an end of stream or timed out error.

Based on older posts, when I reloaded the server, it had to shut down logblock and there were ~2000 logs in queue. So it tried to log everything before it could stop logblock and reload it.

Reading a bit more, it's because i'm running a remote sql server. And there is a writelock. So i decided to restart the server and the sql server. Once the sql server finished restarting, the minecraft server was letting people in.

I want to know if there is a way to prevent these writelocks. I'm using /lb savequeue as a temporary solution to make sure the queue is always low.

I am getting this error when trying to use rollback commands: [IMG]
I use //wand tool to select 2 points of a griefed building I type /lb rollback selection and get this error and all other rollback commands give this error..

Also all rollback commands are giving me this error, I am owner of the server with * permissions

According to the output of "/lb help", you've only permissions for "/lb me".
What does LB say about Permissions at startup?
Hm, afaik the writelock issue first occured with LB v0.14. There I fixed the connection pool to actually work. I've to figure out why writelocks only occure for remote mysql servers. I could imagine, that a write transaction take longer with a remoteconnection and therefore the lock is hold longer. But I've no clue how this could lead to server freezes.
