    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Right click -> save as. If the extension isn't .jar, change it manually.

Currently there is no way to restrict it without permissions. This will change in a future version.

This plugin conflicts with FalseBookChat which is included with the latest version of FalseBook.
If you have FalseBook installed, simply remove FalseBookChat.jar from /plugins and it should work.

DThielke might want to mention this in the OP to reduce the number of bug reports.

When I try to add a prefix for the group in permissions it always shows up twice in the game.
    Example: [g] [Owner][owner] Joe12o
Any way to fix this? (it's probably just a stupid mistake on my end)
    Code:
    globals:
        separate-chat-log: false
        incoming-tell-format: '&8From {player}: &d'
        censors:
        - \bu+\W*m+a+d+(\W*br(a|o)+)?
        - some_other_word;replacement
        plugin-tag: '§e[HeroChat] '
        craftIRC-prefix: '#'
        outgoing-tell-format: '&8To {receiver}: &d'
        default-channel: Global
        default-message-format: '{color}[{nick}]&f {prefix}{player}{color}: '
        craftIRC-message-format: '[{nick}] {player}: '
And I just use the default message format for all channels.

    Permissions:
    Code:
        Owner:
            default: false
            info:
                prefix: '&4 [Owner]'
                suffix: ''
                build: true
            inheritance:
            permissions:
            - '*'

Make official feature requests on redmine or I'll most likely forget.

Each channel already has an option to display join and leave messages.

    Thanks for the heads up.

This behavior is almost always the result of having another plugin that adds prefixes directly into a player's display name. Try disabling other plugins (besides Permissions obviously) and see if the issue disappears. If so, then you'll have to go through your plugins to identify which one is the culprit (common ones are iChat and EssentialsChat).

I would find it resoundingly useful to be able to set various group's default chat - I.e. Whenever a Citizen logs in, he automatically hears and speaks in Citizen chat. Any chance we could get that?

    DThielke

Right click -> Save As -> save it as a .jar.

This depends on what you mean. If you don't want to have a channel's nickname shown, just remove then {nick} portion of the channel's message format.

Something similar is on my to-do list, but new features are postponed until after finals and such are over.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I'd be surprise if it hasn't. But is there a way to reply to /tell messages by using /r or similar? So that you don't have to do /tell <nick> <message> again?

If not the I strongly suggest it as a feature.

Quick Question: How can I make it so that everyone can see what is typed in the Alert Channel without having to join it first?

  22. Offline

    MrMagical

You can't make them see the messages without joining.
Set auto-join: true to make them join automatically.
Set forced: true to stop them from leaving it.

You can restrict who can type in the channel by only giving some groups the speak permission.

Is there any way to make only certain players or groups to auto join a channel?

This would be very helpful fot the help channel. This way I can have it set that only admins auto join. Then if someone needs help they can go into the help channel and talk to the admins without everyone else seeing the chat.

This would help to keep chat spam down, but would make sure that admin never miss a message in the help channel.

There is currently no reply feature. However, if you simply use /tell <nick>, you create a persistent private conversation with the target. This is similar to creating a temporary private, two-person channel.

Something like this has been discussed and is planned for a future release, but new features are on hold until I'm done with finals / graduation in a few weeks.

    ^ Sounds good :)

I got finals in a week myself so I undestand.

  27. Improvement Suggestions:
Deny/Allow Permissions as opposed to Whitelisting (with a default deny/allow)
Option to set a channel as Default Focus for certain Users and/or Groups
Check Inherited Permissions if there are no specific Group Permissions
Set Auto-Join by the Group or User

Hi, I'm pretty new to using your plugin, but I do have a problem. that problem is the following.

I want to add two new chat channels, specific to two different factions. I had it set up so mods and admins could join, along with the faction in question. I had it set to their faction colours (Purple and Gold). After reloading herochat, it completely disappears of the plugin list, the /ch help command does not work, and our names all return to their former white selves.

    Any help is appreciated.

You most likely encountered an error somewhere. Scan your console/server logs for it and paste it here.

    ATTENTION!

To those of you who have been requesting finer control over various channel permissions, I've compiled some proposed changes here: http://pastie.org/1859197.

PLEASE take a look and let me know what you think.

It will be a while before any such changes are implemented, but I'd appreciate some user input before I begin work.
