I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)
When you post error messages, it's important to paste the whole stack trace!

Yea we got API now! Starting to test it soon but already i noticed that with it you only can tell LogBlock to log something... any plans to make it "two way" in future? (so plugins can get block history info from LogBlock)
or is it already in there and i'm just dumb?

It's most likely you entered wrong config for the mysql connection. Maybe wrong host.

    @DiddiZ

Oh mighty savor of worlds, I require your assistance!

Due to matters I shall not bore you with, we lost our server.
But just some days before, I made a backup! so we still have the map, inventories, even plugins!
But my users will loose a few days work, which were very productive days I must say.

But: I still have the Logs from after the update!!! (seperate MySQL yay!)
Is there any way I can let LogBlock re-perform all actions logged after the crash?
    This would save us!

So no rollback.. but redo... is it in LB (couldn't find anything)? Or could you write a separate function/mini-plugin for this? would that take a lot of effort?

  10. Offline

    DiddiZ

    You may speak :D
Yes, it exists. "/lb redo area 999999" should work.

    Greylocke

LB logs chest access, but not the contents, right? If a player thinks that something may have been stolen, can LB help to resolve the issue?

For my new server I had to make a Paypal acount anyway, I'll be sure to send you some [gold].

Hmmm, I think I'll order my players to build you a shrine as well.

  13. Offline

    DiddiZ

At the moment, LB only can tell who opened a chest, that narrows it at least a bit down.
Spread the word, my fellow loyal henchmen :D

  14. Offline

    Greylocke

That's what I thought... :( Not something easily trapped? Doesn't the other logging program do that?

What about logging changes to inventory -- not every piece of cobblestone, but maybe tracking certain valuable items like ores and ingots? That would allow an admin to see that PlayerX added 3 diamond to his inventory seconds after accessing PlayerZ's chest.

  15. Offline

    DiddiZ

Well, BB does, the method is a bit hacky, but since bukkit takes ages for the hooks, I may implement something similar.
That would be even more hacky :D

DiddiZ I'd been using your plugin for about half a year now, and then suddenly it stopped working.

It just tells me the world isn't logged when I try and use the blocktool.

    Versions
    Craftbukkit: 735
    LogBlock: 0.14

    My world folder is: Volantia
    My config file is: http://pastebin.com/Xgk7ah7z
My server properties file is: http://pastebin.com/Wxe3CJ2L

I hope you can help me.

    - Volander

Edit: btw. i get no errors in the console.

    Just a note,

A table with a . in it will cause errors.

    Example:
    tables:
    - lb-thisismyworld.com

Removing the .com in this example will make it work (Of course I'm having the same problem now as the person above me)

    DiddiZ

I'd say, you've a lower case 'v' there. World names are case sensitive.
That MySQL doesn't suppport dots in table names is understandable, but how does that lead to the same problem?

    Volander

    @DiddiZ Thank you that worked.

    Shanie

Sorry, it was late and I missed some important words.

Removing the .com from the config file (and leaving it in the "loggedWorlds" portion) makes it work, but then I am receiving a new issue. It just tells me the world isn't logged. No errors, no nothing.

Same solution: The world name is case sensitive.

Alright, the issue was that when the yml was being read, it was being changed. I changed the minecraft maps folder and properties files from a name with capitals to a folder with all lowercase and removed the .com.

    That fixed the problem.

Did you ever fix the problem with v.14 reporting itself as v.13?

Well I can't seem to get logblock to work any more just stopped working after 1.5 and now it won't connect to the database at all. Have I done anything wrong in the config?
    Code:
    loggedWorlds:
    - world
    - nether
    tables:
    - lb-main
    - lb-nether
    mysql:
        port: 3306
        host: sql307.byethost17.com
        password: ********
        user: b17_7796800
        database: b17_7796800_ulfbage
    logging:
        logBlockCreations: true
        logBlockDestroyings: true
        logLeavesDecay: false
        logFire: true
        logChestAccess: true
        logExplosions: true
        logSignTexts: false
        logKills: false
        logKillsLevel: PLAYERS
    consumer:
        delay: 6
        useBukkitScheduler: true
    lookup:
        defaultDist: 20
        defaultTime: 30 minutes
        toolblockID: 7
        toolID: 270
    clearlog:
        dumpDeletedLog: false
        keepLogDays: 2
    rollback:
        replaceAnyway:
        - 8
        - 9
        - 10
        - 11
        - 51
        dontRollback:
        - 10
        - 11
        - 46
        - 51
    version: '0.14'

Hope someone can figure out what I'm doing wrong.
