HOW TO CONNECT TO SERVER RUNNING ON COMPUTER, ON LAPTOP?

i have a bukkit 1.6.4 server running on my home computer about 4 meters from me... and im trying to connect to it on my new laptop. I tried localhost and the actual ip, but i cant connect on my laptop... how do I do it?

 

localhost would be the PC you are currently using, not the other server; you will be unable to connect unless the server is running on the same PC.
By actual IP, do you mean your public or external IP? The one assigned to your modem?
You need to be connecting to the servers local IP, it will be 192.168.xxx.xxx

 

is the server port forwarded so that traffic can connect to the port it is on
(un edited port is 25565 so if you didnt go into your router settings and set UDP and TCP traffic ALLOWED from all 25565 traffic, you wont be able to join)

Also make sure you didnt edit the server ip in the server file
