I know this is in the wrong place but this I think was the most suitable (please move if have to)

I was just wondering what does it take to become a BukkitDev Staff?

I personally at this time am not looking/asking/applying/etc to become one, but what would you guy/girls be looking for?

    1. You must have a good knowledge of Java, so you can decompile plugins and check for malicious code.
    2. You must be a positive role-model.
    3. You must be able to act and respond to problems maturely.
    4. You must be active on the forums.

I'm not sure about number 4, but the first 3 are common sense.

The points ShootToMaim mentioned are all correct. We are looking for someone who is not wanting to become staff simply for the status but who genuinely wants to help the community. The best way to show us that you're one of these people is by... helping the community! Be active and online on IRC whenever possible, be supportive on the forums, and if you have any particular talents use them to make the community better!

I can tell you the primary thing I'm looking for when browsing through applications that will lead to me seriously considering a person is that I recognize your name. When I see an app come in from someone I've never seen or heard from before, there's a good chance that person isn't active enough. Applications are a great way to let us know you're willing to help, but the people who are going to do best are people who we ALREADY recognize as being mature, helpful, and active.

I should clarify that there's a fine line between being helpful and being annoying in most cases. Being constantly spammed by an individual asking about their application or about X or Y, or if you decide that you're going to answer every question that pops up in IRC even if you have no background or knowledge about the subject is just flat out annoying. Being annoying is going to make you worse off than if you had never said a word to anyone outside your application; we'll know that you're in it just for the kicks and you're not really interested in being a genuinely supportive person.

Hope this helps. We're always on the hunt for staff to help, so get your name out there.

EDIT: Associate your BukkitDev account with your Bukkit account if you haven't already done so (you haven't, in this case). If you have to make us jump through hoops to make sure that you actually are active on BukkitDev as well as the forums, that's not good.
