You do realize that Minecraft is getting it's own server API in 1.5. So Bukkit will most likely end around when 1.5 comes out, as there is no point to it, and it's actually an illegal project.

    Bukkit is going down.

true. i dont think anything else can be said...

Because in 1.5 they are making plugins work in the regular servers.

give a proof. and no, bukkit isnt illegal. else mojang wont cooperate with the bukkit developers..

    rtainc

YES but as posted on Mojang.com like a year ago, they delayed the API to 1.5, as they didn't have enough time to make in for 1.4.

What proof do I need? Even EvilSeph (the owner of Bukkit) said so.

Bukkit will still be around for a while when the modding API comes out, to give plugin developers and server owners time to transfer everything, so don't be afraid of Bukkit disappearing soon.

Please get your facts straight and submit some proof. Bukkit will never go down and will be around for a long long time. If you think bukkit is going down, why are you still here? Abandon ship now! Also, you belong here

I am sorry, but is it funny that this thread reminds me of all of the "the world is ending on XX/XX/XXXX" theories or even the "This game is going to die" threads on a lot of online games? Bukkit announced that they will exist as long as they are needed. The API may not even be used at first because everything is on bukkit at the moment. Imagine all of the time it will take for every plugin to convert to the vanilla API.

what has always made bukkit unique(the reason why i like bukkit) is the plug in folder to be able to add content to minecraft without having to use a custom launcher...

Dinnerbone has revealed that content in the Modding API will be known as plugins rather than mods, [5] because actual mods will still exist that modify game files, which would not be compatible.[6] Plugins will be easy to install by simply dropping them into a folder.[7]

I do believe if minecraft implements the modding api that will make bukkit not unique anymore...will bukkit die off i dont think so but why would you open a bukkit server when you can open a minecraft server and use plug ins made for them you would never have to wait for an update again just plug in updates

Come on, you've got to be kidding me. My proof is this:
    1) http://mojang.com/ <== See Jeb's post about two weeks ago?
    2) http://forums.spout.org/threads/spout-the-same-chapter.1495/ <== "It says this: Essentially, the Bukkit project is a zombie. It's not quite dead, but everyone knows it will be. It's living off the brains of others, since the team is gone. And one day, someone is going to kill Bukkit. Probably Mojang, because technically CraftBukkit is illegal."

I don't need to go through the troubles of getting the link for you. Just look it up on Google, jackass. You can't just go around proving unreal points.

    1)
"Enter Atlassian’s JIRA, their answer to issue trackers. Having used it extensively and successfully for the Bukkit project, I was fully aware of how powerful JIRA was. As such, it was a clear place for us to start evaluating the options we had and we quickly found out how flexible and customisable, as well as powerful, it was after some tinkering. With JIRA, we feel that we’re able to achieve the important balance we need that provides the community with the right tools to properly manage and report bugs, while continuing to be easy to use."

only result on ctrl + f bukkit

    2) how could bukkit be illegal if mojang works with bukkit? seriously. if bukkit is illegal, spout is too, so one illegal project saying the other is illegal..

Spout is illegal too technically...That is kind of a bad statement to put when they themselves are illegal...

I'm pretty sure this is false. Bukkit is at least a hundred times more popular than Spout (which makes it all the more surprising that Spout, which relies on Bukkit, 'foresees' the 'fall of Bukkit').

It's the other way around, spout will die and bukkit will live forever, end ever.

can i ask all the plug in devs if minecraft comes out with the modding api also known as the plug in api
will you update your plug ins for minecraft and bukkit

    1? In 1, where's 1? I don't see how to answer a quote.
2? In 2, Mojang is NOT using Bukkit. They are having the team work with them to make the plugin API with Minecraft. Bukkit is illegal itself as Minecraft is closed source, not editable.

It will all depend of what the API can and can't do.

1: it is the only paragraph with bukkit in it in your link.
2: yeah, obviously mojang team works with bukkit developers while wanting to take it down for being illegal. also as far as i remember mojang has used bukkit code in the past. if bukkit was illegal, youd expect mojang to already take it down.

You guys aren't making any sense. Just stop posting. Bukkit is not illegal and will not go down. END

When the API comes out, Bukkit will continue to do what it has always done, which is to help people make their servers better, more fun, and hopefully help innovation with the API. Nobody on the team wants to just give up Bukkit, that's not the intent, so Bukkit won't just vanish.

Please don't let this thread get out of hand ;)
