    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

means that your Permissions config has issues. In particular, it looks like you're using tabs instead of spaces for indentation. YAML does not support tabs - you must use spaces. See the default Permissions config for an example.

How do I make the chat radius infinite?

  7. Offline

    DThielke

Set local to false. Only local channels put distance restrictions on messages.

Another question, why do people's group prefixes show up before their names when I have it set to
    '[{prefix}]{suffix} {name}: '

It seems like the group prefix shouldn't show up, just the personal (or group) suffix. The suffix doesn't appear at all in this case. I don't understand why. However, I, the server owner, don't have a group prefix or suffix, just a personal one and everything works fine. For instance, my friend's personal prefix is: '&an1gG4' and his suffix is: '&6', he is in the group Admin. The Admin group's prefix is: '&aDemiGod' and the suffix is: '&6'. The same thing happens for people who don't have a personal prefix or suffix and should be getting the group's data. There might be override clashing...not sure...

Could you provide your Permissions and HeroChat configs, as well as a screenshot of the problem? I'm not quite clear on what you mean.

Fairly large update with some new features released!

    Change Log
    Version 4.5.0
    • Added custom replacements to the censor feature in the format 'censoredword;replacement'
    • Added the 'herochat.color' permission to allow players to use colors on the fly in their messages
    • Added the mute (per channel) and gmute (global) commands
    • Revamped help menu
    • Added command specific help. Type /<command> ? to use it (ie. /ch create ?)

If anyone has any issues with the default config, just redownload the latest version. I accidentally uploaded it with a broken config.

I may be pretty dumb but how do I change the NAME color, I have edited the colors for the groups but it would be the Prefix and the username the same color. I want them different.

  11. Offline

    DThielke

Throw a color tag at the end of the prefix, ie '&cSomePrefix&e', and make sure that you remove any coloring between the {prefix} and {name} tags in your message formats.

  12. Offline

    Karinth

So like &3Demigod&7 and it should make the colors different?

  13. Offline

    DThielke

Correct, assuming you've checked your message formats as I mentioned above. The colors affect everything that comes after them, so &3 colors Demigod and &7 colors whatever comes after it (presumably the player's name).

Pardon my stupidity, but easier channel creation/management? Even using the base config file and having a password on my staff channel, anyone who joins the server automatically joins that channel

Also, automatic channel joining based on permission group

    DThielke

I certainly and should improve the default config to be more usable out of the box.

As far as channel creation goes, I agree that it can seem a little overwhelming to a new user, but that's the unfortunate result of having so many features. Do you have any ideas regarding how to simplify the process? I'm open to suggestions.

    DThielke, one feature I would LOVE for my server is this;

Global in-game disabling / enabling Global Chat with a simple toggle on/off switch.

My reasoning for this is that my server, among others, have server-wide events (in our case, server-wide PVP events with specific rules). Because it's the internet, we know that a lot (if not most) of our users DON'T read the rules and come to these events pretty blindly, so we type out (in /broadcast) the rules, one line at a time... the problem comes in trying to make sure everybody is reading what the /broadcasts are saying while global chat is going crazy with the 100+ users online talking in chat.

For this reason I think a "/ch global disable" and a "/ch global enable" would be awesome!

Hm, this is an interesting idea and would be easy to implement. Welcome to my to-do list!

    Sweet let me know :p

(Plus I would like the ability to disable global chat temporarily to say "Hey, guys, stop talking in global so much", then re-enabling it)

    DThielke

I think I'm going to integrate this with the existing mute feature. In addition to muting a player with /mute <channel> <player>, you'll be able to do /mute <channel>, at which point only moderators of the channels of admins could speak in it.

Hey, thanks for doing this plugin. I use it on my server and really like it.

Can someone tell me if it's possible to private message a player using this?

So something like this would happen:
    <player1> /ch pm Player2
Player1: you are now in private channel with Player2
all messages that Player1 send from now on go directly to Player2

and in the console it would be reported like:
[HeroChat] player1 -> player2: this is my message

It's a feature we used to have on ChatChannels for hMod that I really liked.

Getting this error with the latest CraftIRC and HeroChat: http://pastebin.com/VAGMPsAM
Is this something that has to do with my configuration or is it a bug?

EDIT: Reading the error again, it appears the problem is with CraftIRC, not HeroChat. Just ignore me.
