well is it? or is it just "better" then before.also,is ther a way to make a 1.2.5 server work on a 1.3.1 client?

No, there is still an issue with saving chunks every 45 seconds causing server lag as of the latest DB.

No 1.2.5 is not compatible with 1.3.1.

ahhh i see. and its still a piece oh crap? well damn it.is there a work around like maybe setting it so it never auto saves chunks so that it only laggs when me or an admin deciedes its time to "save-all"?

I tried that work-around on my server. Manual save commands are not functioning properly and will not save your chunks.

ghaaa.well frickin frick. i guess ill just stay on 1.2.5 till 1.3.1 becomes a less stinky turd then it is right now *sigh* i hate the fact that alot of users have changed to 1.3.1 clients now and are unable to connect to my 1.2.5 server now

You can always upgrade to the default MineCraft 1.3.1 server. It seems to run better. Then wait for Bukkit to be fixed. Will just have to deal with a raw MineCraft server.

Unfortunately this is what happens every time Bukkit updates, so you just gotta put on a smile and pat these hard working devs on the back and be patient. If your users really like your server, I'm sure they'd understand if you told them not to update, or ask them to downgrade (and help them do that). A good portion of my users have stayed on 1.2.5 just to connect to my server.

thats a thought.no plugins sucks but its still something to think about

oh im in no way hating on the bukkit devs.on the contrary,i think they do fantastic work and am glad to have such a team to make bukkit what it is. its the patients thing i have a problem with :p and that only speaks to my own failings and not the bukkit dev teams.god knows if such a project wer up to me it would still be in its infancy :O and yes the main base of my,,,well user base(that came out all awkward) has stayed on 1.2.5 but iv had more then enough inboxes from new users telling me about how thy couldnt connect due to my servver being outdated.thats all

Luckily I decided to start running a server when 1.3.1 was about to release, so I tinkered and learned with 1.2.5 until 1.3.x released. Having a technical background has made modding/upgrading/tweaking pretty simple.

The fact alone that Bukkit has a JIRA has given me a lot of faith in the devs. Probably not as much feedback and control over the JIRA as I have seen on things like Second Life (yes, yes, I know) but at least it's there and available for bug reports.
