    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

    'default-message-format: '&f{prefix}{player}{suffix}{color}: '

Do you know how I would make it so that the ':' is not white, but instead the color of the name.

I'm really sorry if this has been asked before, but, with Join and Speak, how do I specify more than one group?

    At the moment I've tried:

    speak:
    - Admin
    - Overlord
    join: []

    With no success.

This plugin is great, by the way, and the cusomisation is so useful. Integration with Permissions is just amazing :)

That's correct. What changes are you trying to make that you aren't seeing?

If you post an example of what you want a message to look like, I can post the appropriate message format for you.

What name are you referring to? The {color} tag applies the channel's color to everything after it.

That looks correct. It should end up looking something like this:
    Code:
        AlertSystem:
            craftIRC-tags: []
            color: ROSE
            nickname: alert
            permissions:
                speak:
                - admins
                - mods
                join: []
If that's not working for you, could you post your permissions and herochat configs?

Assuming you have colors defined as a part of your prefixes in Permissions, the format would be:
    Code:
    {name} {prefix}&f:

I was looking at this mod & a chat censor mod on here (in development) and I'm hoping that they would work hand in hand.

What I really want is a chat censor that is client side toggled, so those that want it censored turn it off, those that don't care about what they read leave the censor off.

What I also like about the WIP censor mod is that it also comes with iconomy plugin ability so you get fined.

I'd be the happiest if I could run both mods as we want a multi-channel server.

Post your config on pastebin and I'll take a look.

I plan on extending the API for other plugins' use this week allowing other plugins to intercept all HeroChat channel messages, among other things.
    [MERGETIME="1300035598"][/MERGETIME]
I'm not sure how the censor plugin you're talking about works. However, it could easily work with HeroChat if it justs modifies the PlayerChatEvent message with a priority lower than HeroChat (low). You might want to relay this information to the plugin's developer.

Hey this doesn't appear to be working with the latest permissions 2.5.4 When I downgrade to 2.5.1 it works fine, but none of my other addons do. Can you fix this?

  16. Offline

    DThielke

HeroChat doesn't have any known issues with 2.5.4. Could you explain what exactly isn't working, post any errors you're getting, and post your Permissions config? Also, what version of CraftBukkit are you running?

Would it be possible to implement a "/ch pm" command? The old Chat Channels plugin for hMod had one, and it was SO much more convenient than having to constantly type /msg username over and over again. You'd just type it and get a temporary private channel that was only for you and the other user. When both users left the channel, it was discarded.

DThielke, can you take a look at my config file and see what is wrong? The server is reporting that there is some problem with the config or users.yml file (it is not specific) and I cannot track it down.

ORANGE isn't a valid color. See the section on colors in the configuration wiki for a list of available colors. You probably want GOLD.
    [MERGETIME="1300080055"][/MERGETIME]
I'll consider adding this in the future, but I think that it's something best handled by a separate plugin.

I appreciate your help. I will definitely forward this on to the other developer. :D

    Have a nice day.

  23. Please could we have a download link for "older version" that works without the new Permissions? Because Permissions 2.5.4 does NOT work on my server even if I wipe all of my users etc and ONLY use the files provided. (yes, Bukkit 531)

HeroChat that worked up to #165 was perfect for my needs.. whats the latest version that works with Permissions 2.0 please?

  24. Offline

    DThielke

Unfortunately I don't have old versions laying around. However, Permissions 2.5.4 works fine with the default settings. The error you're seeing (based on your post in TheYeti's thread) is the result of not renaming or incorrectly renaming your config file. If you open the default /plugins/Permissions/ folder, you'll see that the config is named RENAME-ME.yml. It should be renamed after your world (ie. world.yml).

Really nice plugin - but how can you actually write in color?

  27. Thanks DThielke, everyone I know here says your the most helpful modder and you deserve it! I just found the same thing out myself and got it working, now I just need to make my channels to the new format but yay! Now I can use the latest HeroChat! Things are looking up again!

I posted in the Permissions thread to tell people with the same error I had to make sure they renamed it just like you said. I think it needs highlighting more!

    Thanks again!

Users themselves can't color their messages on the fly (this is purposely prevented because it's often obnoxious). Messages can be colored based one (1) channel message formats, (2) prefixes or (3) suffixes. For more information on how these work, read the installation and configuration wiki linked in the original post.

Very happy to hear that solved your issue.

  29. When I place the HeroChat JAR in plugins and run my server it doesn't create the folder with the config? I've looked around on your thread and couldn't find anyone else with a similar problem?

I've also tried adding in a manual folder still doesn't create it.

    Help would be appreciated.

    Dawodo

Yes, I already defined some nice prefix and channel colors but I'm still missing the "on the fly" message colors.
Your plugin is definitely the best Chat Plugin available - however, I'd love to see message colors. Disabling Colors globally via a settings file (default is disabled) and a permissions node for colors like herochat.color would prevent a lot. Or via channel rules. Then it would even be possible to disabled message colors per channel.
Just to let you know - I'd really appreciate this feature :)

    DThielke

I'll consider adding a permission node for it.
    [MERGETIME="1300130733"][/MERGETIME]
Could you post your console log when you try to start the server?
