Well, as you can see I am wondering how many Bukkit Plugin Creators actually have a public server and not just a test server. I am NOT looking for answers like

"Well I have a server, but it's only for me and my friends. Hey, you asked for anything besides a test server."

I am looking for answers more like these...

"Yes I actually do have a public server. I believe it's quite fun. If you would like to join PM me, and I will PM you the IP."

    or

"No I don't own a public server. I do have a server with friends but that's not what you asked for."

Also, if you are running out of time or something, I will have a poll that you can just check yes or no on.
I don't know why but I just want to know how many Bukkit Plugin Creators actually have a public server.

All right, Thanks for reading and hopefully this post doesn't get deleted for some odd reason.

    BYE!!!!

Some people just want to test their plugins that they have created and updated, then release it.
some like to do this and run a server, however it takes alot of time making plugs and running a server.
Some people can do both other cannot. Its all on personal preference.

I got into plugin development because I run my own server. ;)

I develop plugins and I have a server. ;) It used to be public, but due to griefs, we just went ahead and added a whitelist.

I created LWC because of a server I ran at the time. But I stopped running it a while after that, and haven't since.

I also got into plugin development from running a server, but I don't really have a lot of time anymore and subsequently leave most of the management of that to someone else. It's not actually my server, it's one of the servers in a gaming community, but I was the one who knew the most about running servers so I did most of the managing while I had time.

I think I also scared off 80% of the server's users because I used it to run a live test of AntiCheat back in it's alpha days. Poor things. You get bugs fixed real fast if you log on one day and nobody can move.

Wait we were supposed to test things locally first? I thought that's what the servers with players on them were for! Can't test anything with no one else there : )

I used to run a big server. Then I started programming. Now I have 2 test servers.

I slowly picked up coding while running a Minecraft server. I currently don't run a server, due to time constraints, but I still enjoy coding Bukkit plugins.

Yeah, I'd test the basics of something locally but then upload it to the server as a "fix" and go to bed, not knowing that something I "fixed" prevented everyone from like jumping or something stupid like that. Not being able to move is a bit of an exaggeration, but I've literally come to the server on complaints that nobody can PvP, swim, climb stairs, or something idiotic like "whenever I right click a minecart, all the items in my inventory go away"... rofl.

Wow. I am surprised that the maker of LWC is commenting on my post. You know, your the type of person that i look up to as a Bukkit Plugin Newb. I only just started coding them and don't know much, so it's pretty awesome that your looking at forum posts like these. :D

VanishNoPacket was originally a plugin on my server, before being published. Running since August 2010 :)

Giant Caves, Zombie Plague, More Silverfish, and Survey Tools are all plugins for a new server I am working on. The first few versions of MCStats were also for my server.

I don't know how much I could for being a "plugin creator" since I've only ever made one public plugin. However, I own 3 public servers. Survival, Hardcore/Anarchy, and Creative. I believe my Creative server is one of the largest purely creative servers there are. It peaks at about 112 online and averages around 50. My survival and hardcore servers have been far less successful, but I'm going to try and focus on them more. So far, all my public and private plugins were created because one of my servers needed it.

I'm currently not associated with any servers, but I plan to start up a new server fairly soon. It'll be running my new plugin BukkitArena, so I can't release it until that plugin is finished(and hopefully mostly bug free).

I myself own a server on the verge of going public. I'm learning how to code bukkit plugins.

I know how the plugin will work behind the scenes, but I don't know how to implement it in Java. Oh well, time to learn.

I used to have a public server of my own. I didn't start being a plugin developer because I had that server, I started way before. I sort of got into this craziness of, "Well, there's a plugin that does exactly what I need, but why not code it for more fun?". So I created a permissions plugin, chat plugin, world protection plugin, and TP plugin, all in all about 6 weeks to make. No one came on the server because I was never there, then I shut it down.

I'm also admin on another server. Not sure if that answers the question, because I don't own it.

It'd be cool to get a bunch of these non-server owning devs together and create a server run purely by plugin developers.

I used to have a server with an average of 20-25 players. (That was before I started developing plugins)

I started plugin development because I had my own server. It shut down because I got tired of having to deal with annoying players. I recently started coding for my friends server that turned out pretty popular.

Does this only count for Plugin Developers who publish their plugins, or for plugin devs who keep their work to themselves as well?

    POPI102

It's for both who keep to themselves, and for those who actually publish. :)
