With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

I am just checking in to see if anyone has noticed a bug that when they stop or reload their server that blocks that they placed randomly disappear when they get back on, i have had this problem several times and am stumped i know its not lag, and its not my plugins either so i was just wondering if anyone knew if this was a bug or if it is something else.

I am not here to ask when the build will be out or to tell other people to be more patient I am simply here to say good job to all the hard work the bukkit team has put into this project adn I am very excited for the new update :D

do you type the stop command or save before you close your server?

Hang on. The forum thing said "When will bukkit recomended build for 1.3.1 be out" and you havent given us a date or time or anything.

this is a discussion on the matter not a forum to declare an exact date they are working out bugs as of yet and do not know when they will finish.

alright, but why did the forum title say when-will-craftbukkit-for-1-3-be-released. It should say: "Discussion about roughly when we think 1.3 should be released." So that could mean 1 day, 2 days, a week, or another month. Could we have at least a rough time in days? like "oh 3 or 4 days ish" just some sort or guideline

they are working out bugs and so far they are making great progress and i estimate it will probably be at least 3 to 4 days probably more but to be honest i have no clue. as they solve some bugs more are created so don't take my word for it.

wow i just set up the latest dev build now half of my plugins are throwing up errors and warnings that i need to contact their developers. "sigh" this is gonna be a long day.

I would like to help clarify several things on this chat:
    • people are lazy- many people are not going to be willing to read 94+ pages of chat. this causes several "stupid" questions.
    • one way to deal with people's laziness is to make it slightly easier ie create a summary and beg bukkit to create a seperate post to have the summary as a separate forum/post so people can get to it
    • please, im begging u to be patient. we all want the reccomended build out, but quick question how much are you paying bukkit? if the answer is nothing then i think you have no right to complain about how fast u get the reccomended build.
    • if u just want to talk about minecraft in general im sure you will find plenty of other more stimulating places to discuss it
    • why do so many of u feel the need to cuss, it accomplishes nothing

How did you not see the question mark at the end of the thread title? The question mark defines it as a question, and they answered it in the first post. Go read it.

The initial post in this thread is visible at the top of every page of this thread, providing the easiest access to that information. The main page provides the latest link to the latest RB. That's all you need to understand that there is no RB yet.

    I was tol
d when running a dev build you are not supposed to run it with plugins you may need to copy your bukkit folder and remove the plugins from the copy and run the server

  14. Wait what? :)

Umm no. When reporting a possible bug in bukkit, you should run it without plugins to verify that what you are seeing isn't caused by a plugin.

When I upgrade to the latest dev built I get an 'End of Stream' error upon trying to join my server, the console shows me logged in as normal.

Also does anyone know some great NoCheatPlus alternatives now that NCP isn't being maintained?

I have to admit that I love these threads. It's like watching a car accident happen. There is no way to avoid it once it starts and you just can't help to not look away.

I love refreshing the page and seeing half the posts are people complaining about a release not happening and the other half are people complaining about the other people complaining. Each calling the others idiots.

I have no opinion either way since I am anxious about the release but I have also been on the other end, as a developer, and know that there is just no way to definitively give an answer as to how long it will take.

This forum suddenly fell silent. I am amazed that its quiet. So, I am now at about a day and a half on a Dev Build, and I have seen, that when restarting the server, some blocks in chunks recently used are missing (thus far just large amounts of wool) This is using a full backup and shutdown script (I.E. I am doing it right.). This is the only problem I have seen so far, and that was with several dev builds ago. So, how is everyone else doing with devbuilds that is using them?
As well as mine is running, I feel hopefull that an RB is heading this way quickly. Good job Dev Team. I love what I've got so far.

Thing is, if they were writing new software, an ETA could be roughly possible, since you can somewhat eyeball when you'll be done.

But here, they're mostly fixing bugs. And when you fix one bug, there's a good chance that another one will pop up somewhere else. You can't have ETAs for bugfixing.
