With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

Not only has a dev build been posted to dl.bukkit.org, but last time I checked they had posted their thirteenth build to the repository. If you want a stable build it may be a few more days or so until a recommended build hits, but for now if you're willing to chance having to fight a few bugs and don't mind not having plugin support yet, you can snatch a copy of the latest dev build and take a crack at running it.

The full repository build list is here.

That's been happening to me in recent snapshots and in vanilla 1.3.1, so I don't think it is a Bukkit issue.

    FYI:

I installed the latest dev.-version and everything works well (including installed mods) except that the cpu peakes every 45 sek... Normal cpu-usage about 20% but after about 45 seconds it runs to 85-95% and after 5 seconds it goes back to normal level.

This is all about 1.3.1 why would people need 1.2.5? It's on the home page of bukkit aswell..

It's ready when it's ready, there are development builds you could use...

Oh look, a new page and the 2347894352890345890345 time this has been asked because people refuse to accept that the team is not going to give any kind of ETA on any release.

Please understand that you are not special. You are not unique in this thread. You are not the only one waiting for the full release build. They are not going to suddenly go "Well, we weren't going to say anything about when, but because jacobml2000 made a post...here's the date". It's not going to happen. Don't beg. Don't gripe. Don't complain. Sit back like the rest of us and wait until they get things stable.

They're doing awesome work and trust me, they're moving along really fast considering how much has been changed and added. It'll be here when it gets here.

Dude, that's like the 2nd or 3rd time that you've replied to a post and tried to make people feel stupid for posting what they did. I don't know why you're bothering to reply to people's questions if you are not going to be positive and helpful towards them, its a waste of time if you ask me. If some guy has a question and asks for help and you know the answer, just tell them or if you don't think their question can be answered, leave it to let them figure it out themselves. That's what I think, that's all, but you can go ahead and tell me what I did wrong and how I shouldn't have posted this.

Please, no bug reports on leaky for 1.3.1 dev builds. Post any bugs on this thread. ALWAYS make sure you've updated to the latest dev build and have tested without plugins before posting.

If its a plugin specific bug, understand that we have in almost every case been in contact with the devs of that plugin already. If you are a plugin dev and have not talked to us about your concerns, reach out to us on IRC.

Yes they could give a release time if they wanted to but that is all up to the dev team, and as for
People will accept that they may not get a release date, but ETA means estimated time of arrival so if the team did give a date it wont mean it would release that day, and stop posting your little " I cant beleive another person has posted another question on when will it be released question", because you not only make them feel bad about not reading the rest of the posts and then posting their own but you make yourself look like an idiot at the same time.

as long as they get a good stable build running i don't care how long it takes, we can just run the dev build.

Because if they updated and don't want to use a development build, they can use the pre-release to connect to 1.2.5 servers.

Dev-build feedback: This is how my CPU-usage looks with 1.3.1 build 2281: 45 sec ok and 5 sec high load. It doesn't affect gameplay (at least not with few users) but it's annoying to fill the server log with "[WARNING] Can't keep up..." (1-2 lines are generated at each cpu-peak)

Using build 2272 the peaks showed for both cores but now they are much lower on core 1

    Thanks for your great work!!!

is this only happening now with the dev build? like, have you been able to run it before?

is it possible that you already started the server somewhere, and didn't close it?

let me quote the essential question:

13:12:28 [WARNING] Perhaps a server is already running on that port?

I cause this to happen if I mess up the console and an old server instance still is running somewhere. I suggest a full restart
