With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

Define what you mean by 'huge'?
A huge update would change minecraft in a big effect, yes they may have made it easier for the players and I'm not saying it wasn't a good update - and going from 1.2.6 to 1.3 then straight to 1.3.1 doesn't mean it's huge, it could simply be that they found errors that needed to be fixed

Look guys, let's just agree, that the 1.3 bukkit will be finished, when it is finished. The bukkit developers are already under a lot of pressure. We all know how frustrating it is, not being able to update your server or having to run it vanilla. But bugging the staff for updates isn't speeding things up.
I quote TnT, "It is done Banana %". If you guys want a number to sleep tonight, it is 14.55858% done m'kay?

Wow, way to totally miss our forums , which is where the heart of our community sits. Not to mention yes, we do have 1 image showing our buycraft stuff, as we host all our own services as well as a few other games that we hardly have time to dedicate time to with the constant changes we are implementing. I apologize I don't have thousands of dollars to just throw at it, but it does cost money and we do need to cover expenses. As I am sure you do as well.

You boast of your servers but you mention nothing of the "human" aspect. I have been running communities since I was a young lad, being 38 now I am not a noob in the ways of how games are developed and run. I am sorry but this game is the MOST difficult because of not only the age group we cater to but the changes and updates ARE disruptive. This game caters to the aspect of building over along period of time and challenging the minds and ideas of the members involved. Yet every update seems to undermine that so much that we cannot give any guarantee that the time and work they put into their builds is going to be safe. Sure, sure, anyone could argue about just updating worlds, or just doing this and that, but we dont RUN like most servers. We run borderless worlds with multiple custom devs to try and create a very fun and challenging environment. Not to mention hosting many events and games that require quite a few of our staff to be on hand to manage the chaos that ensues.

You can tout all you like about how well you run a server, that wasn't my point. My point was the constant crap I keep hearing and getting from those who say "but it's so easy".

Sure, to run an automated unfeeling, uncaring and uninvolved server IS easy. to run one that actually caters to a Community and CARES for its member base is a different matter.

And in our peak, you wanna talk numbers? We average 100 at peak times, with over 20,000 subscribers, of which at least anywhere from 400 to 1000 are active in a 24 period. This added to the fact we see a new member every 10 to 15 seconds that DOES NOT go through our website or forums, so we are left with informing them "in game" of all the features and events that not only does MineCraft itself offer, but we offer in addition.

This game is also very prone to creating long lasting and long running friendships and connections that span over counties, states, countries, and cultures. This is all being done by MineCraft in its own natural core. That in itself lends to a ton of stress no matter how you look at it. The fact that Java in itself is such a beast, and to run a borderless lag free and well tuned server does require constant upkeep and monitoring to ensure that the Community is being handled as best it can.

This could go on and on but what I see from your statement is how "automated" you may run. At what point in all those servers do you address the kids that get bullied in school and come into game finding they have been griefed? There a plugin for that?

How about the countless plugin mods that break over builds forcing us to rethink and redo how we are setup. Like when General went dead and we were forced to consider Essentials, or the latest fiasco with Mojang leaving a glitch that allowed people to take over as ops/owners/staff.

I apologize for not running as perfect as you do and with error free days, however, that is not our case, and by putting some pressure on Mojang to be more cautious on HOW they release, was my concern.

Not picking apart some ego montage with you on who is doing what for why. You scanned our site. Try posting what you said on our forums and see just how much our Community thinks I am "in it for the money"

Was any of that supposed to make sense? If so, could you please provide me with a translation in English?

Otherwise, there is an element of language called an "analogy", that is used when trying to convey a point.
Clearly, this concept is lost to you, for which I apologize.

A threat that is intended to be physical in nature, would be phrased moreso like:
"I am going to come to your house and beat the twelve-year-old out of you, with a dictionary, and book covering a basic discourse on grammar and punctuation."
I, however, don't make threats over the internet. That's just silly.

What -I- said, was that, in response to you eloquently crying about the lack of warm, fuzzy responses to your original comment, something about people being unappreciative of your wit, lack of tact, and general buffoonery.
My comment was intended to explain the concept of: Just because you can, does not mean it is a good idea.
Just because you can, doesn't mean that it won't carry natural or social consequences.

Because you -can- say whatever you want, doesn't mean that people can't say whatever -they- want in return.
    It's a two-way street, darling.

Having expectations is fine. Stamping your foot and making childish demands of people that don't work for you isn't.

    I see it this way

    Community < - > Server < - > Bukkit < - > Minecraft

Each depend on and would be nothing without the other, and all of them require a lot of time and effort

Nah, hardly ever do but it helps me at least get it off my chest.

When I refer to the effort that staff and I do, yes I am referring to the Community as a whole, that is wrapped around minecraft, created by Mojang.

That is my point. We took on this endeavor ourselves, we knew what we were up against (usually) but to make it sound like the many hundreds of decent and large servers out there are "easy" is a slap in the face.

Ask any decent operator of any decent server what his time consists of. Chances are its "the server". AS as whole.

PunJedi - That was a nice post. I honestly enjoyed it. While Karl seems to be quite intelligent, he does seem a bit robotic, and I can see he probably doesn't nurture his community, but rather is worshiped by them. Being apart of your community, and ruling your community are totally different things. Nobody likes dictatorships. Does the ship stay clean and tight? Sure. But are the people happy? They may smile on the outside, happy for the crumbs they get. But inside they dream of better days...

Consider my posts are always polite, not belittling, involve no swearing, and are re-read at least once for any glaring issues, I feel that his stating "warning then bans" was not only misguided but shows that he did little to actually read the debate that was on hand. Being as our discussion is directly related to Mojang/Bukkit and the chaos of updates, I was surprised to see his statement.

Therefore, my inner-troll couldn't resist but to point out his slight error.
