I created this based upon your idea:D
Note to all: Expect small delays in receiving notifications, as it only refreshes every 30 seconds.

    Sweet, I'll install it now.

EDIT: It works, just got an alert, maybe I'll check it.

EDIT2: Removed due to severe performance issues. The amount of RAM chrome was using was slowly increase, up until it reached almost 2GB, upon which Chrome froze and I had to end the task. I've since removed the extension, and I'm going to see if the problem persists, to verify it was indeed the extension.

 really? I will check this out:0
Edit: maybe I should reduce the amount it checks:/ maybe refreshes every hour would be better?
EDIT: There is a memory leak, thank you for noticing. Fixing asap.

I found the memory leak, releasing new version soon. Thank you SO much for finding this:)
Quote from guy who helped me "You're actually multiplying the function calls at a Fibonacci growth rate" LOL. Anyway, I need to extensively test it before I release it...

Sweet, I'll install it as soon as it's released. It's a really useful utility, and I like the look of the window that pops up in the bottom right corner.

Installed it, I'll let you know how it works. And you should release the source code, it'd be interesting to see how this works.

Anyone can see the source code:D You can access the source code of any extension you install in the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions". On a mac, its /Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/Extensions
    :D

Nice! Yeah the popup notification is slightly bugged... It only seems to work once for some reason. But it will still show a badge on the icon with however many alerts you have. Oh and http://pastie.org/4256858

Yeah, I can confirm what you just said. And thanks for pasting the source.

Why does this need to access my "tabs and browsing activity"? :O

Tabs: To open a new tab when you click on the icon.
Browsing activity: For some reason the tab permission allows this. Kinda annoying. I don't track you, I promise. Chrome is paranoid about permissions.
EDIT: I did some research and Chrome itself says "This item can see the addresses and titles of websites that you visit in tabs and windows. This warning might be a by-product of an item needing to open new tabs or windows." I made it so when you click on a the icon it opens your alert page, which triggers this warning. For more info, click here.

Should I make it play a sound when you get a notification?

Got an alert! (I'm watching this thread)

Yeah, that'd be great! Just in case you're not in the window...

    New version! Added desktop notifications!

  19. This is awesome and I use this a lot now, although it would be awesome if you could merge this and BukkitSearch as it can be confusing with 2 apps with the same icon :)

How would I do that? :0 If you click it opens a new tab... And on BukkitSearch it opens a popup... I think I'll change the BukkitSearch icon:p

  21. Hmmm maybe something like the UI of the BukkitSearch and then a link that says notifications or something, or maybe it could even display the notifications in the BukkitSearch window.

I think I'd like to keep them separate :/ Some people would like alerts but not search.

When I get an alert via my desktop, the alert doesn't go away till I X it out.
Other than that, it's amazing :)

 I did that on purpose... Hmm. The next version it will open up your alerts when you click on that notification, and then it will go away.

    Thank you:)
