When I run the bukkit server, I am able to log in and run around destorying stuff. But when my friends try to conenct, they can't. And yes I gave them the right external IP. The server-ip= is blank in the server.properties. I followed walkthroughs for how to port foward, and I did what the walkthrough said. When I used a port check tool it says my port isnt open, and idk whats wrong with it.

    Computer info:
    Windows 7
    I'm using craftbukkit-1.2.5-R4.0
I'm using a lot of plugins, but I've already tried removing the plugins to see if they could connect, which didnt work

Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Note: This is how I managed to do it, not 100% sure if this is the only way.
So, assuming you've port forwarded, this is what you do.

In server.properties, put your INTERNAL ip. Go to command prompt and type "ipconfig" to find this. it should be something like 192.168.xxx.xxx.

Next, give your friends the EXTERNAL ip address. They should be able to connect from there.

Ok I just tried that, and they still can't connect. They get the error, "Connection Timed Out". I think it might be something with my port, but if it is, I have no idea what I did wrong.

    Port forward correctly?
Plugin list would help too. See HERE. We need more info.

I've already tried what one of those said. And my friends told me to advoid Hamachi if I can. Um my plugin list would be:
    AntiCheat
    CombatTag
    Essentials
    foundDiamonds
    mcMMO
    MobArena
    Premissions
    pvparena
    TreeAssist
    WorldEdit
    Worldguard.

But like i've said I have already tried removing them all, and having my friends connect, it still wont work.

  6. riku Could you give us the exact steps you did for port forwarding? Also: You did this at your router, right? But do you have a firewall on you PC which may block the port? Are you able to connect fom another pc in your LAN with the internal IP?

I had a bukkit server that I port fowarded for a long time ago, so I didnt have to change much with it. I entered my inbound and private port as 25565. The type as Both, and the private ip as my IPv4 address.
And I havent tried accessing it from another Pc on my lan. Im looking through my firewall settings right now, to see if anything will work

  8. Then you should do this right now, cause if you are able to connect with the internal IP everything at the computer the server is running at is fine and the issue is at the router (port forwarding).

Ok just tried it and it works, so it must be the ports. Here is a pic of my port setup, if it helps. ports.jpg

Ok I did that, and still they can't connect. Up to this point, I have no idea why they cant.

  14. jacklin213 Minecraft uses TCP only.

riku Well the sceenshot looks good. Please make sure your intenal IP is 192.168.2.7 and for your extenral IP have a look at some whatismyip site. The external IP is what others need to connect.

If you port forwarded correctly, the only thing I can think of is some firewall or antivirus blocking their connection. I would suggest you change your server-ip back to blank, and disable windows firewall and any anti viruses running. If it doesn't work after that, your best option would be to give up on life and get one of your friends to host a server, or you could buy/find a cheap/free vps.

Ok it FINALLY worked, it was my firewall the whole time. Thank you all so much.

No problem man. If people port forward right, that is typically what the issue is.
