    Cookbook is the premier specialised plugin for custom crafting and smelting recipes. Craft gold bars from stone, diamonds from grass and much, much more! Cookbook allows the creation of recipes in an easy-to-understand recipes file - simply create the recipe, reload the plugin and you're done! Cookbook affects the crafting and smelting tables directly - no more workarounds or other weird methods. It can override the default recipes too - just copy the recipe and specify a custom result.

    Cookbook allows the customisation of the crafting recipes used in a workbench and smelting. Let's take for example the recipe for torches - a stick with oil on top. With Cookbook, I could make it so a stack of 35 torches were made if I put obisidan on top of said stick in the crafting area. I could make a 9x9 recipe of dirt blocks create diamond. If I wanted to smelt coal from saplings, I'd just specify that in the recipes file. In short, Cookbook allows the creation of workbench crafting and smelting recipes, completely user-configured, to give a specified resulting stack.

    Using data ranges for repair recipes:
    In 1.4, the repair recipe feature was added. To use this, all you have to do is put 'X' as the damage value, and any data value for that item will be accepted as valid.

    Crafting recipes (open)
    To configure cookbook, open the cookbook.recipes file. Inside the file are a few custom recipes already configured, and you can change/add/delete them if you like. The way new ones are created is like so.
    A workbench is a 3x3 slot area, filled with air. To represent this in a file, we use a 3x3 grid of numbers, separated by commas. Each number represents the item id that would go into that slot on a crafting bench to produce your recipe. 0 is air (nothing). So, we get this:

    4th line.

    The data values for each line are separated by the ';' - the first number on the right corresponds to the data value of the first item on the left. Note that 'X' is a valid data value, allowing any data value to be used in that square.

    The fourth line is the result (what you get when you have this configuration). It is formatted like so: the item id is on the left, the stack amount is in the middle, and the data value is on the far right. For example - to configure a stack of 64 sticks, I would put 280:64:0 on the fourth line. These four lines constitute a recipe.

    Let's do an example. I want to use a stick in the middle of the bench to get a stack of 24 apples.

    260:24:0 - the result is a 24-stack of apples.

    See the included recipes file for information on Shapeless recipes. Use the @Shapeless identifier before a recipe to make it shapeless - for example

    Will make this recipe shapeless - stone can be placed anywhere to get the desired result.
    Furnace Recipes (open)
    Furnace recipes are a lot simpler thankfully :).
    Furnace recipes have two lines: the first line is for the ingredient, the second is for the result.
    The first line is simply the id of the ingredient used in smelting. The second line is separated into 3 sections by ':'s.

    The first section defines the id, the second the data value and the third the custom cooktime.
    Let's do an example - cobblestone to sand.

    4, -the ingredient is cobblestone.
    12:0:0 - results in sand, no data value, no change to cooktime.

    Pretty simple right? The cooktime value is used for extra customisation of the time it takes for one block to be smelted (the progress arrow's speed). Normally, this is incremented from 0 - 200, by 1 each time. In cookbook, you can add extra values onto this. Note the caveat: these will only change cooktime while the window is open.

    And that's it for furnace recipes. Negative values are possible, but will be capped at
    -0.999999... otherwise the recipe will never complete.

    Nevermind! Works great, i just use inventory button to escape normally so it really screwed up the plugin!

    Thank you very much for this plugin, I'm impressed that you managed to pull it off as I had stuck crafting in my "wait for bukkit update" category.

    Could you help me implement (or advise me) a dynamic version of recipes? The input would remain the same, but the output quantity would vary based on a call to my plugin. For instance, the log->plank recipe wouldn't create a fixed 4 planks, but would call DwarfCraft.---.getEffect() and create 3, 4, 5, or whatever per click.

    I think I need to rewrite your recipe code to grab results on the fly...
    Anyways, mostly just thinking aloud here

    Well... I could add an addRecipe() function so that you could just call it and pass an ArrayList<String> of recipe values to add the recipe to my plugin.

    I think my concern is that your recipe has a fixed output value, and I would like it to vary per player.

    That return slot worries me if its client side could they not use it to hack items or dose it require the server to agree with what the client gets.

    You could always make the item show up in another slot in the inventory but removing it on closing if they have not taken it could get tricky. Hmm work around for that problem would be hard Such a pitty Dam u notch and team.

    I took a shot at it, fullwall. Will push to github.com/RCarretta/DwarfCraft sometime tonight. I stripped out ~60% of your code (sorry [​IMG]) because I would only be responding to a fixed set of recipes. my version of WorkThread line 58-63 is where I do something per-player, based on a lookup from the player passed in the workbench event.

    This looks promising, but is it possible to include the ability to set the damage values of the crafted item? This would allow different wool colours, dye colours and leaf-block types to be crafted.

    I get this same error, but your resolution didn't work me me. most up-to-date CB available. When i open a crafting bench, i immediately get the "you may get an error message". when i was working with my fork of this, i would get lots of errors on the line that casts activecontainer to containerworkbench.

    I haven't actually tested overriding of existing recipes. Could you test that for me and tell me the results? You should be able to do it - just match the recipe in config with the existing one and replace the result with air or something.

    This plugin is simply amazing, great utility.

    Idea: Since showing the output in the workbench would be client modding, maybe you can add a chat function. So when the recipe inside the work bench is filled and fits it would tell you in the chat window what the output would be. You could add basic messages, that read the id and number of items and would tell the item name and the amount, or to make it easier for you just tell the player the id + amount, or for more customization add an extra line to each recipe that lets us configure the chat output.

    Question 1: How can we add charcoal to the ingredients/output or every other item that utilizes this id format: "xxx:x"
    EDIT: I got me a plugin that returns the item id of held items. It says charcoal is normal coal (ID: 263), but the recipe wont work with charcoal. I took a look at the bukkit classes and there is no charcoal in them, just normal coal. Maybe you could take a look at that, wood got different sub ids too.

    Question 2: How can we use a lava bucket in the recipes and just use the lava but not the bucket?

    This would be kinda nice, but for all the simple and fast furnace recipes I do it like this:
    One coal can do 8 operation, so I put 8 items + 1 coal and I get 8 smelted items:
    #8 cobblestone plus 1 coal to 8 stone.

    I have an issue - it don't work for me
    Just dont, it loads, i see cookbook loaded,
    no errors, but default (cookbook.recipes) recipes at workbench dont work (and i know about glitch).

    I use 440, what can cause this?

    Hmm... can you describe the use situation? Do errors show up with repeat spam of opening/closing workbench? Can you try redownloading just in case?

    some ideas, and i noticed i'm not the only one:
    should be able to set block data (eg wool/dye color)
    chat output for what the result would be would certainly be a nice option
    a command (with permissions) for reloading the recipe file (don't like to restart the server to add a new recipe)
    - eg /craftbook reload
    then a command to list entries?
    - /craftbook list
    (opt..) possibility to leave items in the craft side
    (ex, when making a cake, you're left with two empty buckets) - edit: oh, already answered :)
    .. can it be done with other than buckets?

    another thing: check if a comma is at the end of the line you're reading.. if not, and your procedure depends on it, append one (and show a warning)
    if a recipe fails to load properly, show an error (took me a minute to realize i forgot the commas)
    also, you should probably disable the "Player is no longer using a workbench" message

    Love the plugin. The spam is annoying, but tolerable. Is there no way to suppress/catch the warning?

    Discovered a limitation in this system: You can't use tools as part of a recipe unless they're perfect health, I believe (have not thoroughly tested).

    I can't get this mod working with Bukkit #473. When I try to craft using the example cobblestone recipe nothing happens. Just as there would be no extra recipe for that.

    It still does output these, but not a single:
